Terms of Use
1. Agreement
By visiting vsa.im, creating or joining a team, or signing in (including with a school Google account), you agree to these Terms of Use ("Terms"). If you are using VSA.IM through your school, your school's acceptable-use policy also applies. If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
If you are under 18, you may use VSA.IM only with the permission of your school or a parent or guardian, who agrees to these Terms on your behalf.
2. The service
VSA.IM ("the Service") provides interactive science activities: escape rooms, quizzes, arcade and strategy games, team challenges, a student quiz builder, and a school portal with tasks and progress reports. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. The Service is provided free of charge to schools and learners; we show no advertising and do not sell personal information.
3. Accounts and sign-in
- You may play anonymously, join a team with a code, sign in with a username and password issued by a teacher or parent, or sign in with a school Google Workspace for Education account where your school allows it.
- Keep your password, join codes, and sign-in links private. You are responsible for activity on your account. Tell your teacher or contact us if you think someone else has used it.
- Google sign-in is subject to Google's own terms and to your school's Workspace policies. We request only your name and email address.
- Teachers and administrators may create, block, reset, or delete student accounts for their school.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use offensive, hateful, or harassing team names, display names, or quiz content;
- impersonate another student, teacher, or parent, or attempt to access accounts or data that are not yours;
- cheat, exploit bugs, or use automated tools to submit answers, farm rewards, or disrupt live activities;
- probe, scan, overload, or interfere with the Service or its security features, or attempt to bypass rate limits;
- upload malware or content that infringes someone else's rights or violates the law;
- copy or redistribute the Service's question banks, artwork, or code except as permitted by their licences.
We may remove content and suspend or terminate access for anyone who violates these Terms. Schools may impose their own consequences under their policies.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of quizzes, questions, and other content you create. You grant VSA.IM and your school a licence to store, display, and make that content available within the Service for its educational purpose. Teachers may review, edit, or remove student-created content. Please only submit content you have the right to share.
6. Our content
The Service's software, artwork, question banks, and event materials belong to VSA.IM or its licensors. Open-source components are used under their respective licences, which are listed in the project repository. Science Olympiad® is a trademark of its owner; VSA.IM is an independent practice platform and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Science Olympiad, Inc. or Google LLC.
7. Schools
Where a school directs its students to use the Service, the school is responsible for having the authority to do so, for configuring which Google Workspace domains may sign in, and for its staff's use of teacher and administrator tools. We process student information on the school's instructions as described in the Privacy Policy. Schools may request export or deletion of their students' data at any time.
8. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the Service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the Service for maintenance, security, or legal reasons, and may change these Terms. Material changes will be posted on this page with a new effective date, and participating schools will be notified in advance where practical. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
9. Disclaimers and liability
The Service is provided "as is" for educational practice. Question content is reviewed but may contain errors; it is not a substitute for a school's official curriculum or for competition rules. To the fullest extent permitted by law, VSA.IM disclaims all warranties and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited by law, including consumer and student-privacy protections.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service at any time and may ask your school or us to delete your account. We may suspend or end access for violations of these Terms or to protect users and the Service. Sections 5, 6, 9, and 11 survive termination.
11. General
These Terms are the complete agreement between you and VSA.IM regarding the Service. If part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it.
